I don’t know for you guys, but for me, my mother has always been a great source of inspiration. She was the one who would diligently make one of my favourite dishes at least once a week just to spoil my tastebuds. She would cook and bake traditional Italian treats to keep the legacy alive and to share her heritage with me. Teaching me with patience and sharing all her knowledge with much love.
Today, now that we live a world apart from each other, we still share recipes and tender tales of our culinary adventures. One of the latest and more surprising ones was this avocado dip. I say it was surprising as we in Brazil, usually eat avocados as a dessert rather than in savoury dishes. So it was quite a shock to have my mom share with me a recipe for this delicious (and very much savoury) dip.
This recipe came in handy when I was looking for different sauce to accompany my salad. And having (finally) found the most perfectly ripe avocados today, I couldn’t let this opportunity pass.
More than the delicious, rich and creamy texture and flavour of this dip, what I love most about it is how quick it’s ready to go. In literally less than 5 minutes I’ve whizzed it together and in my salad it was.
Now, don’t be shy. Try it as a spread, dip, sauce or on its own (although too much of a good thing can be a bad thing).
This dip is the perfect option when you have unexpected guests coming around and want something a little extra other than hummus (not that hummus will ever be a bad idea). Plus, this Avocado Dip is the perfect substitution for mayo! Say no more to the bottled stuff and hello to something fresh and healthy-er.
You’re welcome!
Now, let’d get down to it:

- 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1 small garlic clove

- In a recipient, add all the ingredients and blitz until smooth.
- Taste to adjust seasoning.
