Eat Yourself Green turns 6: a Retrospective

Eat Yourself Green | 6 Years

Oh hey! So nice of you to stick around…I know I’ve been a bit MIA but I needed some time to cool down after what probably was one of the busiest years of my life.

There has been so much growth and opportunities happening of late and I didn’t want to miss any of it. So now, after a good rest, I’m back to start the year afresh.

I’ve been looking back at these 6 years I’ve been on this journey and I’m honestly humbled by the amount of support and love I’ve gotten in here.

Before starting this blog, I was just out of a relationship and finally figuring out myself. Finding my ground and learning who I really was. Then I met this guy, who I thought was really fun to be around and a few month later we started dating…I had just created my account on Instagram to start what would be Eat Yourself Green.

Back in 2014, I simply wanted to share my new found love for vegetarian cooking, since I was looking for more inspiration myself, being a freshly converted vegetarian. I’m fine to admit that I’m definitely not the most capable and talented chef around but I was just happy to share recipes I found easy and yummy.

And so I continued…

I was growing and getting better at that whole Instagram thing and then I decided to launch a proper blog, with an URL and all in 2015. It felt like such a big step and I was finally getting the hang of it all.

By 2016 so much happened in my personal life, I was about to go on a round the world trip after finally securing my Australian residency, we sold everything and embarked on the greatest adventure of our lives. I was a little lost as to continuing the blog but even then I couldn’t let it go. We travelled the world, ate delicious food, got sick from said delicious food. But it was the trip of our lifetime! And in that period we grew so much and so did this blog.

In 2018, we were back in Australia and finding our ground again as we moved cities and landed on the Gold Coast. I was in between jobs and was longing for more meaning in my professional life. Then it struck me that I could be making EYG grow out of the online world and into real life. So I started offering courses, 101’s and workshops. Then and there I fell in love with being able to touch peoples lives face to face and teach them more than I ever could online and I haven’t stopped since.

In 2019 I felt the need to give my baby a new look, so in my good friend Deb’s hands, the new logo was born. Isn’t it pretty?

In this same year, we bought a new house, I found a great job (you know, I gotta pay the bills), joined a local community organisation (my second baby) and I went deeper into other issues I felt were missing in this platform.

Now, EYG finally turned 6 and I’m so proud to have come this far, loving a project so much that I’d give uncountable hours of dedication and work and would still be here for more!

It’s been such a pleasure to grow and to share this journey with you all. Keeping myself accountable for my learnings and shared knowledge. I would never be able to do it if it weren’t for your support and love. So thank you for being a part of this family and for sticking around for 6 years!

Here’s to many more!
